Your tapes are decaying faster than you think.
We run a small transfer bench for magnetic tape and 8 mm film. Two people, four decks, one frame-accurate capture chain. No batch factory, no offshore shipping.
Small-gauge film
Super 8, Regular 8 and 16 mm, wet-gate cleaned, frame by frame on a modified Bauer projector with a 5 MP sensor.
Dead formats
MiniDisc, DAT, Video 2000, reel-to-reel audio. If a deck for it still turns, we will quote for it. If it does not, we will say so.
What you get back
- A lossless master in FFV1/Matroska, checksummed, on the disk you send us.
- An H.264 viewing copy sized for whatever television you actually own.
- A plain text capture log: deck, tape condition, dropouts, timecode breaks.
- The original tape or reel back, rewound, in a new sleeve.
We keep nothing after collection. There is no cloud locker, no gallery, no account to create. See Privacy for the two exceptions.
Bring us something unplayable
The bench is in Agenskalns and works by appointment, Tuesday to Friday. Write to bench@my-video-archive-hd.download with the format and rough running time and we will tell you honestly whether it is worth the money.
